Then this session is for you. It will cover how to identify your campaign message and how to effectively campaign as a candidate, as well as sharing best practice and tips with other councillors and candidates. The election for Mayor of the North of Tyne area will take place this May and it’s vital that we have a Labour Mayor in this important new role. The new Mayor will mean our area joins Manchester, Liverpool and Birmingham in having a new strong voice to speak up for us. The two people shortlisted to be Labour’s candidate for the North of Tyne Mayor are: • Jamie Driscoll • Nick Forbes To make sure you get your say on who you want Labour’s candidate to be, look out for an email soon from The Electronic Reform Society who are running this ballot on our behalf. Once you receive the email, just follow the simple steps to cast your vote online. Voting closes at noon on 18 February. The Labour Party will be running 3 hustings events, one in each Local Authority area of the North of Tyne, to give members the opportunity to hear from candidates direct. Details are below, and please sign up if you are intending to take part. Members can go to any event and they will be hosted by the CLPs. We will also be providing the opportunity for members to take part in the hustings digitally, and we will be back in touch with those details. Candidates will also be in touch with members direct, including 3 emails each through the Labour Party. The session offers training in member recruitment and retention, mobilising your members, and keeping things legal. We’ll also explain the tools and resources at your disposal, and chat about member engagement methods you’ve found to be effective in your local Party.
