Islington North CLP public meeting - Housing for the many - tackling the housing crisis

  • 18 September 2019 20:00 - 21:30
  • St George and All Saints, Crayford Road, London, UK

Everyone has the right to a decent, safe and genuinely affordable home and at this special public meeting we will be discussing how Labour is addressing this need as we head towards a possible general election. Whatever measure you choose, Britain’s housing system is broken. Homelessness is up by 50% since 2010, rough sleeping has doubled and 120,000 children are without a home to call their own. This is a crisis which the government is failing to solve, but which will be a priority of the next Labour government Closer to home Islington’s Labour Council is already tackling the housing crisis facing the borough. Since taking power in 2010, the Council has been building new council homes as part of the biggest affordable homebuilding programme for a generation and is standing up for private renters’ rights as part of a campaign to tackle rogue landlords.
